The last thing that’s necessary but everything that’s needed formed out of a month long residency, for nine international artists based at The Arthouse, Wakefied. Facilitated by Ivan Patrick Smith, in conjunction with Wakefield City of Sanctuary. The residency gave us an opportunity to learn about asylum seeker systems in the UK, the fate of refugees who are held or reside in the city and their journey towards finding a safe and stable home.
The last thing that’s necessary but everything that’s needed saw me gift 8 bouquets of foraged flowers at 8 City of Sanctuary drop-in’s where volunteers help asylum seekers fill forms, access clo clothing and food and support them emotionaly. These foraged bouquets were succeeded by a delivery of british flowers, every 3 weeks for one year, to be displayed in the reception of Urban House Initial Accommodation Centre.
