Drawing Paper 8
2015
Drawing Paper is a newspaper based gallery concerned with contemporary drawing practices. It is designed, published and curated by Jon Barraclough and Mike Carney.
I edited Drawing Paper 8 with Dr Amanda Ravetz, Dr Anne Douglas, Mike Carney and Jon Barraclough in 2015. It features 20 artists and an introduction that foregrounds Drawing as Connecting. DP8 proposes that instead of seeing drawing as a technique, a handy way to bring people together, we could understand it as something that reveals our existing connections with the world of materials and with one another.
The paper, printed in an edition of 4000 was circulated freely. It was one element of drawing based research undertaken with Manchester School of Art which also included me leading a drawing workshop at Castlefield Gallery’s Confederation House and co-authing an article Why Drawing, now? featured in the Journal of Arts and Communities published by Intellect Books.
