Who Cares?
2019
In response to being invited to make and connect new audiences to Refuge: the art of belonging I developed Who Cares? A co-created project that referenced the history of Lakeland Arts as a radical institution and supported its desire to welcome in ideas and its local community.
Over nine months and with the support of Dr Harriet Rowley and Ian Read I created a series of prints, gifted works and events that brought people together at a set of facilitated gallery based meals. These meals invited participants [drawn from across the area and sectors] to discuss how Lakeland Arts could care for and about its closet neighbours. Ideas generated led to the 10 week co-produced program – A Centre of Attention
Given we met last December, and we had this idea and now we are here in Sept, 3 meals later with an agreed pilot that has been built by the community, staff and supported by senior management and everyone feels heard. I think we can say we did it – we cared – LA cares.
