With bliss I imagine this.
2020-2021
These collages were made during the early stages of research into The Shining Cliff Woods in Derbyshire, for my residency at The Wireworks Project. They reimagine the Peace Huts built in Shining Cliff in the 1930’s by the nature-loving-utopian group Gryth Fryd Pioneers
Shining Cliff Woods hold a long industrial history includes quarrying, charcoal burning and telegraph wire making. They were also the home to the Kenny family who lived within a giant Yew tree. The woods now comprise of managed Pines, veteran Oaks, Yew, Beech and Sycamore, and are a tourist destination. With many visitors attracted by the public footpaths, gin distillery and the mythical, but now ruined, Betty Kenny tree.
